Description

A delicious and easy-to-make casserole that combines the classic flavors of tacos with the comforting goodness of baked layers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup salsa con queso
  • 3 8-inch flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend

Instructions

  1. Brown and crumble the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Add the taco seasoning and water. Follow the cooking directions on the seasoning packet.
  3. Stir in the salsa con queso once the taco meat is ready.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray an 8-inch round baking pan with nonstick spray.
  5. Layer the ingredients starting with a tortilla, then 1/3 of the taco filling, and 1/3 of the cheese. Repeat these layers and finish with cheese on top.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the edges are golden brown.
  7. Allow it to cool for a couple of minutes, then slice and serve with your desired toppings.

Notes

For extra flavor, add diced bell peppers or onions to the ground beef. Use a mix of different cheeses for a unique taste. Can be made vegetarian by substituting ground beef with black beans or lentils.
